Today is Rock Flipping Day when people around the world turn over rocks to see what’s underneath.
In our far northeast corner of Oregon, we have lots of basalt piles, so the hardest part was choosing:
Lots of critters must live under these rocks, but I’d have to flip many (some very big) and risk a rock slide to find them.
I chose a smallish rock with signs of life on top:
Underneath, I found a small empty snail shell.
