In March, I had a craving for trilliums that took me to Tryon Creek State Park. In April, I wanted to stick my nose into magnolia blossoms, so Django (my standard poodle) and I headed over to Hoyt Arboretum.
A brisk uphill walk (or a quick Max ride) from downtown Portland, Hoyt arboretum covers 187 acres near The Oregon Zoo and contains about 1000 species of trees and plants from around the world. Many short trails meander through the plantings and intersect with longer trails (such the 30 mile Wildwood Trail) that lead into the 5000 acres of Forest Park.
I didn’t aspire to a long hike, just a brief jaunt through cherry blossoms near the Visitor Center and then a gentle descent into the ravine of magnolias. The photos in the album below include close-ups of flowers and some views of the trail.
Note: I’m experimenting with how I display photos in posts. Right now, the album cover does not display right, but if you click on it, you should find the photos displaying. If you have positive or negative comments about this method (which streams photos from Picasa), please leave a comment. I’d love feedback on the user experience.

Great picures! I stumbled upon your site looking for Picasa widgets. Well done. /Lee

Hi! It looks great. It’s that lighthouse type software. I really like it. How do you work it with Picasa?
Hi, thanks for your advice on my blog. Blogger is slow in plug-ins. Youd’ think they would work with Picassa since it’s Google owned too. I have to figure out a way to move my blog to wordpress:)
