After yesterday’s sestina misadventure, I need a break from words.
So this penultimate NaPoWriMo offering is very short. It does riff off the prompt at Read Write Poem (“I don’t think I can…”) and at Poetic Asides “(Never…”) and, although very silly (and probably not true), it does truly capture something in my mood today.

Note to Self -
Never write a sestina on frogs, thickhead.
Choral croaking overwhelms meter and rhyme.
Give it up for sonnets on princes or just
walk the dog instead.

but i liked the sestina very much, and here I like this: Choral croaking overwhelms meter and rhyme.
Thanks, Tamra. I guess my sense of misadventure refers to all the things that haven’t been getting done while I’ve been writing poetry. That has been especially true on the two days I attempted sestinas.
I have written two sestinas till date. Next time I have the inclination, I will walk the dog!
raise the bar
I think this is a jewel -’coral croaking’ and ‘sonnets and princes’ (who had presumably been changed into frogs).
I this short little poem. I also liked your Sestina, but they seem like a lot of work.
Love it!
short funny and good….”choral croaking” nice…or was it coral croacking…i forget already…but both good
I may tape this “note to self” on my own fridge.
There are quite a few instances in my life when walking the dog would have been a better idea!!
the last line made me laugh. your sestina power-packed an encyclopaedic knowledge of frogs.
Heehee! I shall take your advice to heart
Who are you?? You are Amazing! I discovered your blog via Priscilla Stuckey’s blog, This Lively Earth.com. Anyhow, thanks, I’ll check back often.
